[science-hypercubed adventure] An 8th-grader who loves StarTrails, comics-to-movies-to-forums, has won a Summer Fun Contest to ride with the regular astronauts six weeks at NASA's Deep-Space Simulator Training Facility .... But she's virtually over-qualified and gets the captain's chair, and it looks all too real for a simulation: They launch a full-scale mission from Earth to Neptune, routine until they learn the real purpose for the mission to rendezvous with a newly-discovered near-Solar-system object and must cope with the consequences of trying their best, among whatever planets, gravity singularities, space clouds, are way out there at the edge of our solar system.

The concept is that StarTrails is both the reality of her favorite science-fiction story, and, NASA's next big push for the edge.

(Her dad was her older brother in the third of the Professors' Spring Break trilogy: See Mi-Kee's debut, Spring Fling act#6.)

The Game itself is a seven-player simulator-trainor for tomorrows' deep-space astronauts to help NASA look ahead: In the 1960's America went to the moon, and developed nuclear-powered space engines with the thrust equivalent of the Space Shuttle's main-three running non-stop, for going to Mars and beyond ... Now it's time to return to immanent domain, power, and glory.
The movie shall be available digitally recorded widescreen 2:1 stereo'eyes'ed 4Mpx 30 fps released on 3D-HD-DVD, HDDVideo, standard 35mm film (telecined celluloid), home-theater HDTV/DVD/DTV, VCR etc. (Stereo'eyes'ed 3.5-D is viewable with white sexichrome or polarized safety-goggles; The advantage of digital is its reproducibility for the future of both broadcast and movie-house.) The initial shoot shall be direct to gigabyte hard-drive; wavelet-compressed and copy-saved to DVD+RAM;- the digitized sound and music edited in synchronized frames-fractions of a second. Image generation shall be further enhanced and assisted by state-of-the-art computer facility.
[Music specified in this screenplay is the Strategic Director's selection from hundreds of CD's of existing works by artists whose timbre and lyrics fit each onscreen activity, and is not otherwise representative of projects Sesquatercet and its purposes or NEMO and its advanced sciences and theories]

Abstract

START RAILS

Opening on the interior of a starship control room, the computer is 'dreaming' of chasing a gaggle of young women in flowing robes along a forest cliff ledge, the captain and crew frantic to determine that the navigation computer is merely bypassing its logic-comprehension unit ... and Mi-Kee turns to the next page ... Mother calls her down to lunch and mail and she learns she's been selected winner to spend summer, training with NASA astronauts in a deep-space mission stimulator. At NASA she prep's with the regular crew and -former- captain, who's now her second-in-command because she's outscored him on written skills-tests, and ultimately she must prove herself worthy.... Before launch an administrator explains to her the importance of including children on space-studies missions; then they ride out to the simulator, and spend two months underground. Once inside, Mi-Kee forgets the outside world: the spaceship is a self-contained multi-level virtual reality vessel and there's nothing in this simulator to suggest they aren't really launching into deep-space, from liftoff to the stars. They fly their mission quickly passed the moon and several planets, dropping science-probes along the way, to the far reach of the solar system, where they learn the real purpose for this mission,- and Mi-Kee runs them too close to a gravity singularity 'black-hole' which flings them off-course but into a tenuous giant gas-planet where Mi-Kee rescues their heading and makes first-contact with aliens. They return home to meet their debriefing schedule; and riding away from the simulator-trainor silo, Mi-Kee notes that the ground around it has been opened and reclosed ... was it really virtual?
