ARCHAEODUS
("First Journey") -Jehovah in Eden-

a science docudrama, PG-17 Ultra vivid

redacted by Mr. Raymond Kenneth Petry, Strategic Director
a Wision--Sesquatercet USA production

Of our common past, and our connected future.

(a division of Lanthus Corporation)

[index][screenplay][music][components][budget][prospectus][roles][casting and crews]
[feature] The story of Jehovah's arrival on Earth, with Adam and Eve and their life in an Eden kindergarten, tells a plausible beginning of modern scientifically advancing society, of what actually happened on Earth about 3670 BC, north of the Persian Gulf. (Choreographed to music)

[N.B. This screenplay is being moved to retirement for revision by the Principal Screenwriter, to accommodate significant newly-discovered details: The prior major revision included the Egyptian side of the family and their comedy, but we have now ascertained that they were in Egypt about 203 years before Shw Khonshu begat Adam Geb with Mwt Mut and moved his first-lineage to Sumer.... The perception base is still solid, but details pushing back into their own prehistory are pertinent enough to delineate in the motion picture.]

[Music specified in this screenplay is the Strategic Director's selection from hundreds of CD's of existing works by artists whose timbre and lyrics fit each onscreen activity, and is not otherwise representative of projects Sesquatercet and its purposes or 'lambhorn' Scientific Scriptural exegeses]

Accurate portrayal being paramount to good story telling, a reasonable deduction has been made to secure a plausible redaction of Scriptural texts and archaeological datings. Contemporary dangers in the region render finer result impracticable.

INT. STUDY CUBICLE - FAINT RED LIT (EONS LATER)
CU: A flat video wide-screen REFLECTION OF spacer boy ADAM (2) (REFL) watching AN ANIMATION of solar system planetary creation; Mr. GABRIEL (VO), small senior muscle, narrates:
SUPERIMPOSE:
2.5 MILLION YEARS LATER
[GABE] (VO)
(reads aloud)
VIDEO TITLE:
Chapter One: Living Planet Genesis; Time-scale: Seventh-order, cycling.
ANIMATED: Flattened pre-solar nebula glowing in Bode-bands; blazing planet-quadruplets, co-orbiting, coalesce to twins; a few asteroids collide, flashing light that echoes abroad;
[GABE] (VO)
We begin at this condensed planet spinning through the dusty nebula orbiting its central sun not yet lit to star-brightness … Only the Spirit of God watches.
ANIMATED: Dark spinning planet, continual meteor storm adds dim glow; occasional fireballs streak across;
[GABE] (VO)
This planet has removed to an orbit far from its pair-mate and begun to cool in cloudy darkness … Rocks and dust still crash onto the planet.
ANIMATED: Tempest winds scour boiling-water seas covering glimmering magma flows;
[GABE] (VO)
Deep water covers its crusty lava and boils-away heat into scouring winds, high into its atmosphere … Lavas still glimmer below.
ANIMATED: Red sky light blooms to a bright-dim day-cycle;
[GABE] (VO)
As the faraway sun ignites to star fire, its suffuse light illumines the thinning nebula blanketing the spinning planet with its first day light … Lighter and darker are the first type of day; and God counts this improvement, Good.
ANIMATED: Tempest-winds subside to a global rain storm beneath back-lit cloudy reddish haze mottling the sky;
[GABE] (VO)
As the planet cools, its atmosphere slows to let vapor gather as clouds precipitating rain water, cleansing the air for vegetation to breathe … And God counts this, improvement, Good; This is the second day-type.
ANIMATED: Magmas harden, crack, weathering into fine dusty soils, green vegetation proliferates, blackish in reddish-orange sky-glow;
[GABE] (VO)
Cycles of sunlight, warmth, and wet and dry, accelerate the microscopic crumbling of hardened lava rock, to gravel, sand, dust, soil, clay, and dirty seawater,- greatly increasing its availability to microbiological slime and mold developments,- which also increase the crumbling. Larger vegetations luxuriate and the third day-type is dominated by sightless, greenish land-plants basking in the reddish-orange daylight, making the air good for animals and mankind.
ANIMATED: Sky clears to day and night, to detect the sun's spot, moons; distant planets, colored stars at night: The mountains are patched with snow;
[GABE] (VO)
While vegetation and tiny insects develop and flourish on the planet, in its air and its seas, the nebula blanketing the planet clarifies to let direct light show the spots of the sun and moon and other planets, and stars, in their colors…. Nights and winters and pole regions become colder; climates specialise. Larger plants, that grow fruits to nurture their own seeds, develop … On this fourth type of day the point of seeing and science becomes good.
ANIMATED: Fish swimming, jumping … then add fowl flying;
[GABE] (VO)
As animals develop and specie-fy in the buoyant water seas, they follow the changing seasonal direction and currents flowing around the planet: These are the first fish; And from these, lighter-weight birds develop flying by flapping the less-buoyant air … And day-type Five, is good.
ANIMATED: Cattle, sheep, roaming, lion resting, aboriginal idyllic mankind walking;
[GABE] (VO)
Land-creatures, including mankind, dominate the planet and its seas in day-type Six. This is the finale of known life-soul manifestations on living planets, but mankind needs a further distinction from the animal creatures….
ADD TRANSLUCENT SPOT-OVERLAY of [Gabe] face:
[GABE]
We put aside this idyllic scenery to understand generic man and his ascendency over all the planet and its seas and skies and outer space around: It is also to be seen and counted, Good, and felt constantly: It is the altitude, the orbit, the vantage of thought watching calmly confidently with God: It restfully sees all good unfolded undiminished before it contemplates point, line, place…. This elevation of authority brings us to eye our present day-type, the Seventh, and its ultimate conclusion in your responsibilities here and wherever you count good….
ADD TRANSLUCENT SPOT-OVERLAYS of individual [STUDENTS] faces at 2-4 years; Adam sees his own video-echo:
[GABE]
Adam, you may ask a question.
[ADAM]+ADAM (REFL)
Can people go outside a planet? in their spacesuits?
[GABE]
Planets are bigger, so they don't have to; but they can.
[STUDENT#2]
Will we visit a planet to see these development phases?
[GABE]
Most planets are finished;- We will visit a sixth-day planet.
[STUDENT#3]
What is soil like? Do we have any in the laboratory stores?
[GABE]
Soil is like your toy-modeling clay.
[STUDENT#4]
What do planet-people do during the nighttime of day?
[GABE]
The same as you do when you turn-off the lights, and sleep.
[STUDENT#5]
Why don't we have animals in our spacecruiser?
[GABE]
Animal communities do not fit in spacecruisers; And do not need to: They will already be on any planet we will visit.
[STUDENT#6]
How many planets are there orbiting a sun?
[GABE]
Each sun may have several pairs of planets, and some, smaller suns.
[STUDENT#7]
Are all day-type-six planets inhabited by men?
PULL-BACK TO: (MCU) real Adam in his plush study-cubicle:
[GABE]
One or two, sometimes three planets at each sun, are just right for us.
ADAM+[ADAM]
Can planet-people see us? Where are they going?
[GABE]
Only when we come near or visit them: Then they follow us.
FADE TO:
INT. SPACER BOY CHILD'S BEDROOM - LOW LIT
ROOM LIGHT AUTO-DIMS; Mommy TFNI, small pretty senior 250, tucks-in Adam; exotic stuffed animal-shape toys abound.
TFNI
And what was the inspiring class discussion today?
ADAM
We learned about seven day-types phases in living-planet genesis.
TFNI
Can you name the seven phases?
ADAM
The first is after the planet already exists inside a nebula.
TFNI
And what do you know about such a planet?
ADAM
It's round, and it spins, and it's dark but also really hot and messy.
TFNI
And what happens to that planet? Do you remember?
ADAM
The first phase is where the light makes a type of day and night.
TFNI
And where does the light originate? Is it on the planet somewhere?
ADAM
It is sunlight and its nebula wears thin and lets the sunlight through.
TFNI
And then what? What does light do?
ADAM
Mommy? What is a nebula blanket?- It's very dusty.
TFNI
And that is all that it is: dust floating uncollected about the sun.
ADAM
How does it keep the planet warm?
TFNI
The dust catches sunlight and heat, and gets warm itself; but darkly.
ADAM
There must be a lot of dust to keep a whole planet warm.
TFNI
Yes, a very lot: enough to make the sun and planets first,- and more.
ADAM
Then, the planet gets quiet and the wind turns into clouds and rain….
(yawns)
TFNI
And that is the second type of day? What is the next phase?
ADAM
Yes; Then the seas and lands cool, and make soil, and grow plants.
TFNI
Can you grow plants without soil?
ADAM
We have the hydroponic flowers; but they need nutrients….
TFNI
And what happens when the planet is full of plants?
ADAM
The plants make air and grow fruits and the sea animals become fish and birds when they follow the moon and stars. There are land-creatures too and mankind. Mr. Gabriel said we will visit a sixth-day planet … but, Mommy, How do animals get to a planet?
TFNI
The Life-Principle we call, God, forms its manifestation everywhere in concert harmony:- All things reflect Life, together and diversely.
ADAM
And then God approves, and gives us things to do and learn….
(00:00 ukelele - […]/[…])
TFNI
Yes, And that's the seventh phase to think about…. Good night, dear one.

GABE
Probably suffered a revolt in the eons since our star went supernova.
-FOURTH-
Sir, They are in this sector here …
(at Jupiter-Trojans map)
They are not following us, -or were not,- but we won't know, until they break-out of ballistic trajectory:- if they're in tracking range.
GABE
Mike, They were approaching the children almost directly.
MIKE
We've had no contact in 3-million… years:-- Why the children?
TFNI
Sir, From the watcher-control-room they could find empty corridors.
MIKE
Psychology? TfNi;- following a buffer-zone to the children?
-FIFTH-
Sir, Their mental tones were dark and mechanical: All kill.
MIKE
Kill in empty corridors? What is their target purpose?
GABE
I think they want the children:-- the threat of a future.
MIKE
But suicidal! Gabe, What chieftain risks protection against children?!
-SIXTH-
Information, Sir: what we do to avoid space-comets, they amplify to murderous thievery for raw information: to release it.
MIKE
(turns)
You mean, they've lost their ability to dodge space-rocks?
GABE
Could be, Mike: Then they'd kill for tidbits of information.
MIKE
An inferior mentality? Gabe;- enslaved to a superior technology?
GABE
Comparable to children, Mike, they don't see us in charge.
MIKE
Run an adaptability-profile on the children. Thank you, all.
Others exit; Mike, Gabe, remain.
GABE
Mike, you were hard on TfNi: We lost her husband Tefen; and her boy is…
MIKE
(clips)
And both she and Adam took hits:
I'm focusing on this, Gabe.
GABE
You suspect Adam is their only, target?
MIKE
What do you think of Adam? Is he tractable for spacer living?
GABE
He excels at spatio-temporal relations; As bright as any of the children in a thousand years: He's foresightful.
MIKE
You mean, self-involved,- could be projective, even useless.
GABE
Too soon to ascertain, Mike, and we'd continue to teach him.
MIKE
Not under duress: not here. Thank you, Mr. Gabriel.

Gold reflectance,- also along the rivers, and out here in the desert.
PTAH
I, thought so … Ripe for picking….
RA
Malleable; Could command a premium.
PTAH
(bemused a beat)
Next.
Tungsten spectrum: blooms hazy here and there.
MIKE
(a beat)
Tungsten reflectance spectrum.
RA
(a beat)
Okay … Next.
Zirconium spectrum: nil.
MIKE
(a beat)
Zirconium reflectance.
PTAH
(a beat)
Oh, Poo…. That's going to take us several millennia to extract.
RA
(politically creative)
Still, Maybe facile: We start local mankind picking-up the silver … and the gold … Add copper, iron … build great competing civilizations … And after they begin hoarding strategic metals we exchange our keep for the right to extract 3-percent-96 … and return pure-depleted … By time they figure it out, we're long gone…!
PTAH
(a beat at Ra, smiles)
Ra, You're brilliant half the time.
Gabe enters.
GABE
(defensive)
Excuse me, Mike: TfNi's in trouble: She's doing it again: She's blaming herself.
MIKE
Did?- What?- What's troubling her?
GABE
(holds a broken Watcher)
This is the third broken Watcher.
MIKE
Then she's fixed her blame on open-intelligence technology.
GABE
Under incursion-strikes, she'd better secure internal operations.
MIKE
Open-intelligence always ranks the highest respect for performance.
GABE
But, Mike, Open-intelligence also exposes individuals:-- Adam!
MIKE
Priorities, Gabe: Adam is not suited to spacer-living.
GABE
(a bit upset)
The adaptability profile is relativistic grading, not absolutistic:- Don't be hard.
MIKE
You believe Adam is their target,- and he's consular lineage….
GABE
(detects incongruity)
They can't know that-- eons ago…!
MIKE
And, open-intelligence should have erased it among us.
GABE
Open-intelligence mollifies,- but can't subvert motherhood.
MIKE
Doesn't need-to:- It shows us what we must do promptly.
GABE
(yielding)
… Finding a suitable space-refuge, for him, means we need a temperate planet similar to our former Earth.
Live-Earth map: atmospheric gases absorption-spectra.
MIKE
The target planet is a feasibility: We can put them down near the space seed implantation …
(to Ra, Ptah)
Excuse me, guys …
GABE
This is their solar system, Mike: They'll go after him down there.
MIKE
(admits but)
Safer than with us … We'll have to put them down without the spacer habiliments.
Ra, Ptah, chickle-chuckle.
GABE
(barely amused)
That's extremal … Should I go with them?
MIKE
A separated mother is more common among suicidal male cultures….
(resumes at map)
Atmospheric composition parametrics are similar to a minim-suit plus a nitrogen burden, -useful for plant-life,- slightly deranging for men, animals,- but Adam will survive it.
GABE
(involved too)
Nitrogen, matrix … Nitrogen Two…?-
(chuckles)
No heavy molecular oxidators?-- They're going to chirp like birds!- Not to mention feeling ill all day.
Ra, Ptah, mutually mock-sick-burps, hands to lips.
MIKE
(stifles a nod Yes)
Significant gravity, They will rest supine. Helium spectral absorption suggests underground gases and oil reserves in valleys and near seas:- eventually useful resources….
GABE
This is severe … Have we any choice of ground location? Harvest-season?
MIKE
Take a look:- Infra-red especially.
GABE
(examines Earth-IR map)
Appear to be several long rivers in luxuriant temperate zones … Here--
(points at major rivers)
… though we'd better take straight, rivers, for the straightness of our cargo-freighters, we know so well.
MIKE
Several amid the larger continent …
(at S Euphrates)
And this confluence of four plain-rivers in a mid-northern temperate zone … is present target choice.
GABE
(at S Persian gulf)
Gulf is constricted:- Northern top-water could be fresh….
MIKE
Planet rotation on 24 degrees tilt: Usable day; Quadrature mild seasons favoring warm northern springtime….
GABE
Do you have nightside, infra-red: Is it populated?
Mike switches map: black+red-enhanced night-views of Earth.
MIKE
(sweeps down Euphrates)
Northward is, but practically none southward.
GABE
Unsettling, Mike:- A spacer-ideal locale with no settlementation….
MIKE
It's drier; Fertile, but few trees for building … Maybe the ground is unstable for tall structures?
GABE
Maybe it silt-floods seasonally: There may be no exposed stones.
MIKE
(at westward W Batin)
They can set-down on higher ground out here on the plain … Trade-route travelers will follow larger rivers and the mountain-range foothills.
GABE
(summarizes hope)
Polluted morons, spacer-profile-rejects, disillusioned political-losers: all manner of defilements, disloyalties … Dangerous: What can we provide them?- We're hundred-percent spacer-typed!
MIKE
Nothing, but the information of where they are: where they can go.
Ptah leans subtly forward--
PTAH
Tell him about the sunset beaches.
GABE
(grins at Ptah)
You've been dreaming again, Ptah: You've never seen a beach up-close.
PTAH
Dreams must count for something: If poops feed plants, Dreams respite …
GABE
(grin cools, to Mike)
I'll prepare TfNi;- How soon do we arrive at… new-Earth?
MIKE
Seven days… We final-correct-swing-decelerate at its large moon … and arrive at the planet nightside as the moon enters sunlight-umbra …
(points out 30S Pacific)
Several will be taking leave, this, side: where islands dot the ocean….
(points mid 0N Atlantic)
We detonate the space-ram nearing the rim … to make land midmorning …
(points along 30N Arabia)
Across this main subcontinent … and against this ridge, as backstop.
(emotes unto chrysalides)
I'll be glad to unload this space-seed cargo;- In dreams I smell its stench of rottage;-- I've tested for cracks: There are no leaks, But it almost has me believing in extra sensory communication … or dreams.
GABE
This is profound, Mike: Where will we, go then-after?
MIKE
(points to N Nile)
Ptah and Ra are landing due-west …
GABE
Ooh, Nice.
MIKE
We, may have no choice, Gabe: We've got non-ballistics paralleling at tracking distance…. We'll drop our cargo, return to third synchronous orbit, and find the scout ship … We can watch over Earth day and night.
GABE
I'll shuttle them down at maximum angle just before orbit-dawn:- With the lunar eclipse behind us and the other shuttles coming down onto the first ocean, and this cargo coming down over us, it'll give us the best disguise into the daylight.
MIKE
And then return directly:-- We may have to leave Earth-orbit entirely.
GABE
Mike, We have no agenda to abandon them forever.
Venus-Solar map; Ptah, Ra, join interested.
MIKE
I'm looking at this planet inward:
Ample resources for us to reform;- Cloud cover and thermal inclemency should deter incursions.
GABE
(at sun-data chart)
Billion-year sun-stability,- Good.
MIKE
Any further discussion? We remain on Yellow-Alert, henceforth.
GABE
Thanks … This will be a very long planetary exploration for TfNi.
(turns, exits)
RA
(to Ptah)
Ptah, A sunset beach faces the west: That means you'll have to take the east, shore.
PTAH
We can share the river, And I'll boat over with Sekhmet to your eastside for the evening sunsets.
RA
(a beat bemused)
Okay, That's amenable, I guess.

GABE
Mike: TfNi and Adam are ready to shuttle down.
MIKE
It'll have to be quick, Gabe: We have non-ballistics approaching within quick-strike range.
GABE
(subdued)
And one other thing, Mike: TfNi has impregnated herself from the marrow stem in Adam's broken rib….
MIKE
(acknowledges)
That's fine, Gabe: Without Tefen to husband her, she's right, to do it…
(looks askance)
Their lineage is, full-well-inbred.
GABE
She programmed for a girl.
MIKE
(deliberate smile)
Figures: Right choice.
Gabe motions: TfNi, Adam, enter sans spacer-habiliments; indications of surgery: Adam, at a rib; TfNi, inner-thigh.
GABE
(holds out leaf-bundles)
Can they have these gene-adapted fertile-seed pouches? And rolled thatch-leaf mats?
MIKE
(peruses)
Yes,-- those look Earth-ordinary.
GABE
(garlands TfNi, smiles)
These seeds are bitter-coated with a dry fertilizer-primer….
MIKE
(continuing)
But, what about their rifle-scars?
Can we cover that better?
GABE
No: Flesh accelerants leave uneven fill without persistent tending.
TFNI
(resolute)
Commander Michael:- Are there any last instructions? Any idea who's upon us?
MIKE
None, TfNi, and I can't risk exposing you and Adam to find-out.
GABE
TfNi: We do know their speech is by tongue, but with unknown, isolated, million-years, insular development, since the echelon diaspora … Earth-technology languages will deviate further;- We'll ask our century scouts when we arrive, And begin teaching when we reach land.
TFNI
(turns to Adam)
Adam, Are you ready to go explore a day-type-six planet?
ADAM
(looks at Gabe)
Yes.
(looks at TfNi)
Is this how they dress?
MIKE
Yes:
(looks at Gabe)
They are fairly primitive mankind,
(to Adam)
among a variety of land-animals.
Ra peers-in, and enters:
RA
(smiling pretence)
Someone looking for me…?
TFNI
(bursts tears to hug)
Amun…!
RA
(hugging, patting)
He'll be all right, dear Mwt: We've got spacepods out there looking for him now … a few years recuperation… and meanwhile you've got family….
TFNI
(sobering)
Can you, come down, and visit…?
RA
(comforting, to a grin)
Now young one: We've been away from planets 3-million years: An old god like me can't do much with gravity: If I sit on one corner of a planet, my head spins one way, and if I sit on the other corner, my head spins the other way: It's very confusing for an old god like me …
TFNI
(giggles in tears)
But … If you can, someday, we would love to have you visit …
RA
I'll think about it: The gravity of thought eventually outweighs most …

RA
Good-Bye, young Adam Gjeb: You take good care of your mother TfNi….
ADAM
Yes, Granddad Amun.
RA

TFNI

Of course, Ra….
GABE
(calm urgent to Mike)
We'll leave now, with your order.
Mike nods Yes,- and resumes controls; They turn to leave.
RA
One other thing, TfNi, -should any ask:- You and Adam will be the gods of water vapor, and earth;- I'll be the Sun-god; Ptah is Grand Creator: We agreed…. Thoth is still figuring one out: He wants to be the man of technicolor flowers, and Maat wants bird feathers … We're yet trying to convince him, to be something more substantial,-- like, moon-man.
TFNI
I'm goddess of water vapor? Clouds?
RA
(single-nods Yes)
… till we recover Tefen and send him down…. If you make a change, keep it consistent in the places you have been … Try.
GABE
Did you pick one for me, Ra?
RA
Ahh!- We forgot all about you, Gabe … Just tell them you're one of the gods' messengers: an archangel….
(to Mike)
Same, anytime any of you visit….
GABE
Okay … But I'm going to relocate to one of Ptah's sunset-dream-beaches.

Gabe gives TfNi a hug … And kneels to Adam--
GABE
(neon high voice)
Adam: You and your Mother have a long assignment here on this Earth-planet:- Be obedient to every word she tells you: She's a Lieutenant Commander; She's the only commander you will have on this planet;- And there is much to learn about this day-type-six planet: It's not like our spacecruiser: It's much bigger, and you can explore…. I must return to the cruiser; And I'll come visit you again when you've established your homebase with the staple seeds I've given you in these leaf-sacks;
(holds up a garland-sack)
You have ample resources around you to multiply and build, ten, cities.
(a hug … stands to TfNi)
TfNi, Go west, upriver, along the bend where it nears the city-ship atterrissage,- until you find fish and vegetation surviving, to feed you and Adam while you seed your farm; Eastward, the razed land will be barren and the river muddy for a season…. And, Take these with you.
(holds 3 broken watchers)
TFNI
(surprised)
They're broken,- and Mr. Michael said it's best I shouldn't.
GABE
Actually these are repaired, but look broken: to disguise them. Take them with you, TfNi: We can monitor your progress…. Mike agrees, but we had to be sure you'd get-away clear from suspicion here so we left them damaged in case anyone challenges you: Bargain one for three measures of grain-meal: That will make any simple man smile at the thought of reciprocal multiplication.

ADAM
(switches subjects)
Mommy,-- Where's the toilet?
TFNI
On unbuilt planets, we improvise.
She leads him to a bush spared behind another tree stump.
And behind the bush, Adam squats,-- and leaves it.
TFNI
And back to the river: to clean-up.
She soil-covers his leavings while he returns to the river.
And she catches him at the river shore … and both wade-in.
The Cat rises, sneezes dust, and comes inspects the toilet.
And watches TfNi clean Adam with a handful of river sand …
AT THE SHORE:
And she shows him how to clean his hands using river sand--
TFNI
(works sand under water)
And wash your hands in the sand and water.
(sniffs hand; withholds)
And wash thoroughly.
(reworks with fresh sand)
They come out, and walk the shore upriver; Cat trailing …
ADAM
Mommy, Can we dry-off?
TFNI
It's warm today:- Let's walk;- We may swim some more.
MILES FURTHER - MIDMORNING (MILD-HAZY SUN ABOVE-BEHIND)
The river is gradually clearing; trees stand barren here …
TFNI
Adam, Can you identify the types of day, here?
ADAM
(ponders, points)
There are plants, and trees:- Those are day-type Three.
(looks up, around)
This river of water is day-type Two … And the daylight, and the clouds earlier are day-type One … But the sun is clearing:- That is day-type Four … Can we stop and look for fish in the river waters?
She nods Yes.
They stand at the water's edge, talking quietly--
TFNI
Do you know what a fish looks like?
ADAM
It's gray, long, smooth except its fins stick-out … There,- Is that a fish?- They live underwater.
TFNI
Could it be a dark rock?
ADAM
(watches a moment)
There, It moved … I think … See?
TFNI
Yes, That is a fish:- a small fish.
ADAM
And fish are day-type Five;--
(looks up, around)
But I don't see any birds;- And we won't see stars until nighttime,- except a moon sometimes: A moon and stars are day-type Four … But … Are we the mankind of day-type Six?
TFNI
We are visitors to this planet: We may find mankind;- And we will see animals too.
ADAM
(peers about the horizon)
Not right here:- This planet must be mostly day-type Four or Five.
TFNI
Actually this planet is bigger than we see here,- which is already much bigger than our spacecruiser…. We may have to go far to find animals and mankind,-- but they are here.
ADAM
(a beat)
Mommy, Where does this, river go?
TFNI
It flows a long way down the slope of the land, to the ocean.
ADAM
(looks around)
Are we on a slope?
THE VIEW IS FLAT;- the mountains are still in smoky haze.
TFNI
Yes, a very gentle slope,- enough for shallow water:-- Come, watch:
She finds a bush-stick … and tosses it into the river …
TFNI
(squats with him)
See: A stick of wood floats, and goes with the water current, which itself is flowing down-slope….
ADAM
(watches the stick)
Can we make a river-ship to carry us?
TFNI
(quick looks about)
We may,- with a lot more wood.
They continue walking;
ADAM
Where are we going?
TFNI
We will go to our select base-camp, and set-up there.
ADAM
How far is our base-camp?
TFNI
It is about two miles from here:- We did not want to land the Shuttle right on top of the base-camp;- We should scout-around first, and see what's near and far;- See, Here are some berries, in bushes.
She leads him quickly to her discovered berry bush still intact and viable behind a small clump of barren trees …
And gathers sprays of berries, mid-high;
TFNI
(blows dust off)
These may be edible….
She heads back to the river; He follows, interested …
AT THE SHORE:
She washes the berries … and lets him try one--
ADAM
(eats … smiles)
It's tart, and sweet!--
(and eats more)
Why didn't we have these on the spacecruiser?
TFNI
(eating too)
We had the giant Balaustine berries you liked … I think Mr. Gabriel has included some in the seed pouches…. There are too many kinds of fruits, to grow them all onboard a cruiser.
They treat on the berries while she fashions two spears of stiff water reeds: fitting a splinter of rock in each tip.
TFNI
(holds-up a spear)
This, is a spear for catching fish.
She leads to the water's edge….
TFNI
Stand still and be quiet while we fish with a spear.
He quiets…. She strikes the spear into the water … a couple times … and finally spears a fish;-- He smiles.
TFNI
Fish are food for mankind:-- fish from clean fresh river water….
She stands her spear upright; kneels and scoops handfuls of water two-handed-tipped-forward to her mouth, drinking …
He kneels and imitates … but has a hand-sieve …
And leans down prone, mouth to the water, And slurps …
ADAM
(wiping mouth)
Yes, it's fresh water.
TFNI
Plants that grow fruit right at the ground are unclean on Earth but are clean in outerspace;-- Do you know why?
ADAM
Planet soil is unclean … And we use hydroponics in the spacecruiser;-- But, Mommy, The plant nutrients are not for people….
TFNI
Hydroponics are finished and wash freely;- But soil is unfinished and does not wash off readily;- It gets wet in the rain but leaves a stain. Plants that grow tall, are clean.
ADAM
How high do they have to grow?- Like trees?
TFNI
Trees are high enough; Clean plants have elevated fruits, higher than…
(squats with him; quiet)
Do you know about the very small animals?
ADAM
You mean the worms and bugs?
(TfNi nods Yes)
They crawl on everything.
TFNI
(nods Yes again)
Yes, Elevated fruits must never sway to the ground.
ADAM
So, the berries are clean?
TFNI
Yes, Berries are clean,- but, Leave those near the bottom, near the ground:- Animals must eat, too.
ADAM
(considers admittingly)
What do fish eat?
TFNI
(smiles)
Not berries, but very tiny plants, and bugs.
ADAM
And worms?
TFNI
I suppose they can, but worms bury into the dirt out of reach. And big fish may eat tiny fish:- there are so many fish in all the waters…. This fish will be our dinner, with these berries;- the fish-tail is for children.
They walk-on, with speared fish and sprigs of berries.
(00:00 windwhistle - more: […]/[…])

Well, well … So this, is a planet!- Haven't seen one of these in aeons…

Terra … Solida … Cognita….

One small step for the younger gods … One giant leap of faith, for me …
RA

There's a beach … a beach! … Gabe is missing all this…!
PTAH

Not-too easy to miss a whole beach-front planet … Just takes good aim.
Thoth walks-after for the shore … where Ra slides in sand:

Eigh-yigh-yigh … this is cold…!
PTAH

The sand is hot: Dry-off on this.
RA

Ooh… Ahh…!- This is warmer…!
Ptah takes tentative steps … but more-downhill accelerates flatfooting … sideways … and flops on the sand near Ra.

RA
So, Which are we going to do first?

Silver, will beat gold … It was rarer on Mike's spectral map….
PTAH

PTAH
Is that any different than on-ship?
THOTH
I … suppose not … But we could do things better than lying around….
RA
We could do lying-around, better….
PTAH
Think of this planet as a larger ship … What would you do?
THOTH
I'd start, by finding-out where we're going….
RA
Did we know where we were going on the ship?
THOTH
We knew we were going to land one of these planets, eventually….
RA
Then we know where this planet is going:- Same direction as the ship.
THOTH
(a beat)
So we've upgraded to a bigger ship?
PTAH
(a beat)
Long as we don't land this planet, ship, on a bigger, planet … ship….
Thoth and Ra look mutually--

We've played long-enough, Adam;- Let's go rest.
And come out … a LIZARD scampers, stops … and runs again …
ADAM
(pointing to lizard)
What's that?
TFNI
That's little more than a snake with fully developed legs.
ADAM
It's fast;- Does it live underground too?
TFNI
When the days are cooler it spends more time beneath.
ADAM
Will we build a camp underground?
TFNI
(looks at Adam, smiles)
I hope it doesn't get that cold….
A BIRD SWOOPS DOWN passed … and grabs-away the lizard.
ADAM
Oh!- What was that?!
TFNI
That's the bird you didn't see earlier:-- They fly in the day.
ADAM
Where do birds go in the night?
TFNI
They find a safe place high in the trees;-- maybe here.
EXT. THE GOOD GROVE, LARGELY LOW DATE PALMS - (CONTINUOUS)

ADAM
(points)
What's that?
TFNI

TFNI
Every planet has its own types of animals;-- We can name them here.
ADAM
(watches)
It's trying to catch a bird:-- Let's call it a, Catcher.
TFNI
How about if it only tries?
ADAM
Okay, a cat: It's a small, -maybe- catcher.
TFNI
(nods Acknowledging)
And how would you describe a cat, to me?
ADAM
It's long; it has four legs, and a longish tail, and short ears; it's brown.
TFNI
And if there were another that were white?- Would that be a cat?
ADAM
(considers)
… Yes;- This is a brown, cat.
TFNI
And if it had a short tail,-- Would it be a cat?
ADAM
(considers)
… I don't think so…. Do you think there are any?
TFNI
This is a small base-camp;-- We'll see what we find. But, Adam: Don't you chase wild animals;- Do you understand me?!
ADAM
Yes.
TFNI
And don't squeeze your pet animals hard, like you do Mommy and Daddy…. Let's prepare dinner:
(takes dangling branches)
Let's gather dry brush and sticks for a fire.
ADAM
(helps gather dry brush)

RA
They're convincing him he has died and taken a magical ferry boat ride to the third planet of heaven: and received his eternal-secret name.
Ptah lets out a goodly cackle.
RA

She takes him in her arms to rest.

TFNI

Do you know the stars in the sky?
ADAM
Mr. Gabriel assigned us research to learn them…. There's Sirius:-
(points)
It's bright red …
And Adara …
And there's Rigel …
And Betelgeuse …
And Aldebaran:- it's red too …
And there's the 'cluster-of-seven', but that's not their name …
And there's Capella …
And over there's Procyon,-
And Pollux …
(looking around)
The stars appeared on the fourth-day-type …
A METEOR STREAKS …
ADAM
(surprised, points)
And a meteor!
(a beat)
There are also lots of stars we can see from the other side….
(a beat)
Mommy, Will we get to visit the other side of the Earth?
TFNI
Not very soon, Adam; but eventually we may…. We'll see how we like living on this side;-- But, you remember what you told me about the planets revolving around the sun?
ADAM
(ponders)
Yes… Oh: We don't have to go to the other side, to see the other stars!
(exuberates on discovery)
When will we see them…?!
TFNI
In a hundred and 83 days: about two times it takes for fruit to grow.
ADAM
(figures)
Then we will, see the other stars….
TFNI
Yes, many times,-- maybe a thousand times again.
ADAM
Okay.
(redirects)
But, Mommy, There were more stars on this side, before.
TFNI
From our spacecruiser, in space the sky is clear to see dimmer stars that on a planet, the deep sky hides…. Most stars we see are very near our sun, in this galaxy arm … yet during the day the blue sky obscures even those…. Do you know which lights we see during the day?- and which of them are stars?
ADAM
The sun is the star nearest this planet,- but, What other stars?
(pauses)
And we see the moon too, and maybe other planets.
TFNI
We may see comets and supernovae sometime.
ADAM
Mr. Gabriel said, a supernova is a big star that burns like a billion suns, in six hours, and then glows brightly as it blows-away in space; And these are rare now.
TFNI
Rare, yes;- but when the universe began there were very many.
ADAM
(a long beat)
Are there people, like us, living near every star?- Or are they like the sixth-day-type mankind?
TFNI
Sixth-day-type planets abound in the galaxy; But Adam, We must never endanger their peoples with our technologies. Do you know why?- or where their technology comes-from?
ADAM
It comes from partial knowledge of planet surface physics.
TFNI
Right, you are:-- a thousand times too slow and too shallow for us.
ADAM
Will they ever become like us?
TFNI
In a thousand times as long before your adult-teeth come-in.
ADAM
(2 beats thinking)
How long is that?
TFNI
Six thousand planet years, they'll get their spacer-teeth;- But only if you help them and never hurt them.

Speak to the cat: Tell it the truth, You are the master.
ADAM
(to Cat)
You are one, cat, on this planet, in the cosmos: Your place is here.
TFNI
Adam, Come see the things I found at the river.
Adam comes close, loosing the Cat …
TFNI
(handling pitch lumps)
This is oil-sludge: We can use it for our cooking fires: instead of dry twigs and leaves.
ADAM
What is oil-sludge?
Cat circumspects TfNi;
TFNI
Wash your hands in the water, and eat some berries.
He rubs his hands in the water and sand, to wash.
She gives him the frond-plate of berries: He eats while she demonstrates oil-sludge that floats;
TFNI
This oil-sludge is a blend of deep-Earth carbons, plus the slick gooey remains of plants and animals that lived long ago and got stuck in it. It makes a sludge underground where it collected thousands and millions of years:- Oil-sludge is not clean; It comes to the surface because it floats above the water table here;-
(tosses it on the river)
Oil and water can seep through tiny cracks in the ground, and ooze-up, and collect. And oil burns in fire.
ADAM
How do animal remains get underground?
TFNI
Everything the animal leaves of its body adds to the soil and is washed with rain, and mixed with the dusts of Earth and outer-space, settling from the wind…. Plants grow in the soil, and everything a plant leaves that the animals don't eat, adds to the soil until it is very deep, in tens of thousands of years. We will plant a garden, with trees, in soil like this, of the seeds we brought.
ADAM
(touches oil-sludge)
Will we make oil-sludge too?
TFNI
Not for ten thousand years … But we may find more things that have oil: The seeds of many grain-plants are rich in oil clean for making food.
ADAM
(sniffs finger)
This doesn't smell like food.
TFNI
Eating-oils must be made fresh, and used fresh, and eaten fresh…. This sludge is very old, and was made of already-eaten foods…. We'll collect this for our cooking fire, and keep it in pots made of clay…. Would you like to help?
ADAM
Okay…. But where do we get clay on this planet?
TFNI
(scoops deeper clay)
The kind of clay we will use here, is very fine, soil, thick and damp; and is found deeper under the sand.
ADAM
Oh:- Mr. Gabriel said, Soil is like our toy-modeling clay….
TFNI
(works and shapes clay)
Yes, but we have lot's of clay-soil here … And we will bake it very hot till it's very hard and dry,- after we fashion-out pots.
A BEE buzzes-by Adam "vv…vv" … and alights on a flower bud.
ADAM
(searching delighted)
What's that?!
TFNI
It's smaller than a bird….
ADAM
Let's call it a, Vee: It sounds,
(enunciates)
'Vvv…vvv'.
TFNI
Where does the Vee, go?
ADAM
(watches it crawl buds)
It is stopping on little plants and inspecting the flower buds, before these open.
TFNI
It is a worker-insect:
(joins, watches)
A pollinator.
ADAM
What does work mean among insects?- What work is pollinating?
TFNI
It means, It doesn't eat the plants but tends and promotes the fruiting for seeding by collecting grains of flower-pollen and leaving specks on other flowers of the same species…. It keeps most of the pollen for its own food,- as flowering plants have much extra.
(appends)
We, will tend the plants we, grow.
ADAM
Will we pollinate the flowers?
TFNI
We can let the Vees do that:- there are many more…. We will water and feed the plants:- the whole plants.
(new subject)
Now, Would you like to help, gather the oil-sludge, and the pot-making?
ADAM
Yes.
TFNI
(presents frond-slippers)
Put-on your shoes,- and let's begin this day's work.
He puts on the frond-slippers.

TFNI
Yes: See how far it is, across.
ADAM
But it's plain:- There's nothing growing down there….
TFNI
It just started today;- This will be your garden:- You will grow it.
ADAM
(surprised)
The whole garden?!
TFNI

ADAM
Mommy … Are you alright?
TFNI
(comforting suckling Eve)
Yes, Adam, I'm alright; I'm sorry I woke you.
ADAM
Why were you crying?
TFNI
I wasn't crying, Adam: I was working hard, and got loud; I'll show you what I was working-on, in the morning…. You can go back to sleep now; Thank you. I won't wake you again: I'll work quietly.
ADAM
(sleepily)
Okay, Good night.
TFNI
Good night, dear one.

EXT. - (CONTINUOUS)
TfNi is busy cooking; Doll in hand, Eve runs to her Goat …
Takes the leash and leads it down … to--
Adam … and watches …
EVE
(a few beats)
Do you have to count the fruits again, Adam?
ADAM
Mommy says we don't forget to count the fruitage with gratitude every harvest season.
EVE
(points doll at a mushy)
Ooh … I don't count that one:- It's mushy … The birds ate it already.
ADAM
We don't eat the mushy fruit, Eve;- Mommy says we count all, the fruit, the trees make so we know what good we did the trees by tending them.
EVE
I count only good fruit.
ADAM
Mommy says we need to know how much more fruit is on the trees we tend, compared to the tree we did not….
EVE
Why do you count the mushy fruit?
ADAM
Mommy says … Eve … The trees grow the fruit they grow which is good … The trees do not grow fruit mushy … The birds do that … Mommy says we count the same fruit on the trees we tend as the tree we do not tend.
EVE
Why do you count the fruit I am not going to eat?
ADAM
(a beat)
Eve, We are not eating any of these fruits until I count them….
EVE
How many fruits are on that tree?
ADAM
A hundred and forty-four;- And that is three-and-a-half times better than the tree I did not tend with water and composted dung and leaf.
EVE
Is that enough?
ADAM
Mommy says it is a good amount.
EVE
Is the fruit ready to eat?
ADAM
Soon … maybe tomorrow some and next week. I must finish counting these.
EVE
Okay. Don't let the birds eat them any more before next week:- I'm hungry.
TFNI (OS)
Adam, Eve: It's time to finish-up and be getting ready for dinner.
ADAM
(to Eve)
Be sure to feed my animals before dinner time.
EVE
(draws Goat away)
Come-on, Go-at: It's time for you to go-at your dinner.
She bring Goat to--
FOREGROUND: TfNi is at the oven.
Eve gathers animal food from yesterday's-basket …
TFNI
Are you feeding the Go-at?
EVE
Yes.
(considers a beat)
Mommy?
TFNI
Yes, dear?
EVE
Why does that tree in the middle of Adam's garden, grow without fruit when he tends it?- It doesn't look broken….
TFNI
Eve: Each tree has its own God-known purpose for man: That pine is a tree that lives only and produces seeds to grow more pine trees…. It has some qualities useful for cleaning, too.
(again)
Many things grow without fruit, Eve;- And many with very small fruits; And we keep some of each, to remind us to prove that we have Godly work to do … Not everything we do is for feeding man.
EVE
Okay.
She returns with Goat and food to--
MID FOREGROUND WATER: Feeds it, pets it … and other pets …
TfNi near-steps on Adam's clay toy spaceship by the oven.
TFNI
Adam: I've told you to keep your toy spaceships away from the oil-oven, so we don't step on them.
ADAM
I did;- Eve took it: You told me to not stop her.
TFNI
Eve: Did you leave Adam's spaceship near the oil-oven?
EVE
(frustrated)
It's just a clay-toy: It doesn't really fly through space.
TFNI
Eve: Come here.
(awaits)
Eve leashes Goat to post … comes to TfNi …
TFNI
(continues close-softly)
Eve: We must appreciate our ability to be watchful of the desires of each other,- to care as we would have our own desires cared-for …
(a beat)
Can you do this, Eve?
EVE
(ponders)
Yes.
TFNI
Now, How about returning Adam's spaceship, and thanking him for letting you play with it for a while?
EVE
(picks-up his spaceship)
Okay, Mommy.
(cradles it … to him)
Thank you, Adam: I liked playing with your spaceship.
ADAM
(stops, and takes it)
Thank you, Eve … for refueling it …
(a quick flight-of-fancy)
Shooh … shooh … shooh …
TFNI
Eve: Would like to help me make dinner?
Eve brings a wooden step-stool and her body-apron to TfNi …
EVE
Yes.
And sets it … and steps-up … TfNi ties her apron …
TFNI
(positions stirrer)
Nothing should ever become over-done:- Keep stirring the whole pot while it is over the stove-fire,- and stir into the corners, so that the whole cooks evenly….
EVE
(cooperates, stirring)
How much is over-done?
TFNI
Food is cooked only so that it yields quickly to man's desire: Never waste your resources cooking.
EVE
What's a resource?
TFNI
What God has already provided, and men have located and gathered.
EVE
So, the fire-oil and sticks in the oven are resources … and the fish. Is clay a resource?- It's everywhere.
TFNI
Not all clay is good for making pots, so, yes, pot-clay is:-- A resource must be recognized, too.
EVE
Is fire a resource?
TFNI
We use it, -and it requires our resources,- but it has no place but what we give it … so we call it a technique, and we must apply our techniques to use our resources efficiently and not waste anything.
EVE
Okay. How much fire do we apply to cook dinner?
TFNI
We control the oven-fire by placing more or less oil-and-stick-resource in it … and we adjust the oven-air-vent to control how well it burns:- We don't want hot smoke from the oven: That's not fiery hot and it's not fully burned:- so it will waste our resource sticks and oil to make smoke.
EVE
Why doesn't the sunlight-beam cook our food for us? It's brighter than this hot oven-fire, and it doesn't smoke.
TFNI
The chemistry of cooking is heat, not light, and the sun is so far away from the Earth that it cannot give us much heat but what warms our day. If we could gather more sunlight to focus on our pot we could cook, but we'd also have to stir it because the light stops at the surface of the pot, and does not cook inside….
EVE
(pondering)
Is the sunlight-beam a resource? It has a place it comes-from. How can we gather it?
TFNI
Yes, sunlight is a resource; But it's not easy to gather: We'd need a reflector like the surface of the water in the river-pools where you see your face looking back at you.
EVE
(recognizing)
Oh!

What kind of star has a circle around it?
TFNI

ADAM

It's there, outside:- where it was every night, But it didn't have a circle around it: It was just big and round, and very bright.
TFNI
Let's see it, Adam.
Adam slides out, down, and leads TfNi back outside …
Eve slides out, down, by herself, and follows out …
EXT. - (CONTINUOUS)

(a beat, resumes)
Adam: How long have you seen that star?
(00:51 ahh)
ADAM
About a month, and it was getting brighter than all the other stars: But it doesn't move like a planet or comet.
EVE
What is it, Mommy?
TFNI
It's a supernova, Eve:- A star that was, ten times bigger than our sun, burning ten-thousand times faster and hotter, than our sun:- Then it burst-open with the brilliance of ten, billion, suns.
EVE
(ponders 2 beats)
How much is a billion?
ADAM
A huge, whole galaxy of stars…!
(01:31 low vowels)
TFNI
Remember how we practiced counting to a thousand by counting ten tens of ten?!
EVE
Yes.
TFNI
If we practice counting to a thousand, again and again until we've practiced a thousand times, we've counted a thousand thousands, which is a million…. Then, counting to a billion is doing all that, as many times practiced again….
(01:52 second vowels)
ADAM
Will there be people coming from the supernova to visit us?
TFNI
It's far away, Adam, --but not too far away:-- They know what planets are reachable; and may be thousands of years, to get as far as we are.
(02:14 exult)
ADAM
Mr. Gabriel said we came from a supernova long ago, before we lived on our spaceship:- How did we find this planet?
EVE
(injects)
Adam: Stop telling stories about Mr. Gabriel.
TFNI
There are planets and stars in every direction, everywhere, Adam; This planet was on our path;- And it was thousands of years ago that we lived at the other sun.

Snakes do not talk: You do the talking for them.
EVE
Mr. Gabriel doesn't talk: You do the talking for him….
ADAM
I've seen your snakes: They don't really talk.
EVE
I've never seen your Mr. Gabriel: He isn't real.
ADAM
He is, too, real: He was my teacher;- He was like Daddy.

We do not have any animal furs: You grow only leaves on your trees.
ADAM
Mommy assigned me responsibility for tending the fruit trees too.
EVE
You can't wear fruits: You can't even touch the forbidden fruit.
ADAM
The trees I tend grow more, better fruit, than the forbidden tree.

EVE
The forbidden fruit looks just as good as yours: And it's real….
ADAM
Mommy says death is just as real for the disobedient.

TFNI (OS CLOSING)

ADAM
Mommy says we grow-up most rapidly by being obedient.
EVE
How did you prove that?- Did she compare you to a forbidden man…?!
ADAM
Mommy says we are not to harm the men of Earth, and their children.
EVE
(whimpers)
That leaves only me and Mommy: You should repeat me, too.
ADAM
(ponders)
You're only my little sister, right now.
EVE

How do you think Mommy got to be a mommy…?!
Adam kisses her cheek to quiet her;- the fantasy fades …

Adam, Eve: I've been calling and looking for you!
ADAM
We were here,-- hiding.
TFNI
(notes leaf-clothes)
Why were you hiding?
EVE
(dejected)
Because we don't have clothes like yours, Mommy.
ADAM
We don't have animal furs to make clothes.
EVE
And tree-leaves don't make very good clothes:
(self-examines)
See…?!
TFNI
(considers)
And, What is this talk about snakes?
EVE
Adam doesn't believe me!
TFNI
Doesn't believe you about what, Eve?
EVE
That the snake answered me when I spoke to it.
TFNI
What did you tell the snake?
(02:39 quieter)
EVE
I told it … I spoke the truth, to the snake: like you said I must.
TFNI
The truth about what, dear?
EVE
That God created it to understand His untrembling resolve.
TFNI
What was the snake doing, Eve?
EVE
(imitates shivers)
It was, shivering, and jerking about … It was very afraid.
TFNI
And what did the snake answer you?
(03:00 oomph, end -out-)
EVE
It's voice informed my thought: The broader the idea, the calmer is the understanding … Mommy,--
(whimpers again)
What does that mean?
TFNI
(ponders)
It means, Eve: You can cherish the idea of loving good.
ADAM
Mommy: Eve also took some of the fruit from the forbidden tree.
TFNI
(to Adam)
And did you eat some of it?
ADAM
She gave it to me: She said it was good fruit.
TFNI
(begins lecture-review)
Adam, We discussed this thoroughly: You must eat only of the fruit of your own tending: You must prove to yourself that tree-tending is good: that the trees you tend make more fruit than the untended tree; Never eat of the tree of laziness knowing both good times and evil,-- though that is right in the midst of your own tending:- That tree is there to show you that a tree already grows by itself, and you must tend, your, trees, to improve their yield: lest you die in the evil times…. You do not eat seeds, like the bird in the tree of life without fruitage,- And you can't eat Life itself, like the Creator…. You cannot have abstract immortality, Adam: You must live … now first completely: And, you must teach your children, to prove for themselves…. I cannot forever pick for you the fruits of Truth:- I can give you the seeds of the garden of Truth, And you must plant, nurture, and tend, forever and your children after you: Do you understand me, Adam…?!
ADAM
Yes, Mommy.
TFNI
(a beat, stern)
Now you know the fruit tastes the same …
Adam looks placidly admissive, as the truth sinks in …
TFNI
(a beat, realistic)
And you also know the difference between the good way to tend the fruit, and the evil way …
(a beat, to Eve)
Eve: How did you know it was good fruit?
EVE
It looks good, the same as from the other trees; And it tasted good.
TFNI
But, dear one, Obedience is also good, and much more for you to do: The fruit is obedient to its tree, and yields to Adam's tending …
EVE
(cries)
Yes, Mommy: I'm sorry.
TFNI
You'll want to keep your obedience forever, after you've eaten.
(a beat, relents a bit)
I'll show you how to make clothes of fish skins….

But her necklace holds taut;
Surprised at its strength, He shoves her backward with both hands while gripping the watcher tight;--

He squirms on TfNi,-- She struggles …
Fingernail-scrapes his cheeks bloody,- but he ignores the abuse,- checking her arms …
She top-head bashes his nose;--
He withdraws uncertainly, begrudgingly loosing the watcher,
Hand-and-knees back, face and nose oozing blood, free hand nursing his nose …
She stands … He crouches, backing away stooped toward the others, wiping his cheeks, nursing his nose …
TFNI
(exasperated)
Stupid mankind, doesn't know which side of a woman they're on:-- How will they ever know which side of the planet-Earth, they're on?!
Except wounded Judge, They grin and guffaw mutually,--

All slightly laugh.
They back away … and at a distance, saunter-on, following the stream, Judge tending his wounded face …

She remains at the waters' edge, crying tears to the sunset as though the sun blocks her progress …
She removes and tosses her furs into the shallows.
Examines and throws the watcher into the shallows.

TfNi rousing …
O.C. COMMUNICATOR TWINKLES-OUT,--
She shrieks, leaps-turns-backs-away half into the water, hands on shore-mud, cowering crouched, glaring back …
Then, hesitantly, recognizes--
TFNI
(puzzles-exasperates)
Mr. Michael…?!
RISE, CLEARING shoulders to between heads:
CMDR Michael standing also nearby-right, watches her …

TFNI
(teared articulate)
I'm sorry … Mr. Michael … I understand, now.
MIKE
TfNi: Dear one: It's alright: We've been watching for an opportunity …
TFNI
(surprised lean back)
How long, have you been watching?!
MIKE
(leans back too)
A few years, while we parametrized the planet surface….
TFNI
(checking her beliefs)
Years!?- And you didn't … Where did you go?!
MIKE
We regrouped and rebuilt at Venus, next planet sunward, in the clouds on its sunny side, beyond easy view from this planet…. The cruiser was damaged after separation from the space-city-freight-ship….
TFNI
That's what I felt … Oh, I'm sorry. Did Mr. Gabriel get back all right?
MIKE
(shakes No a beat)
We haven't seen him;- We thought he might be staying with you and Adam.
TFNI
(shakes No)
He didn't … He didn't return …
(winces worried)
Where could he have gone? We loaded the Shuttle with enough Zirc-96 for ten launches and decades of flying: more than a kilogram … just in case … But, Didn't he radio you?!
MIKE
(shakes No)
No … No distress-beacon, no crash-beacon…. We've waited and monitored every frequency around the Earth … daily … for years … But we couldn't detect him … which is one reason we stayed-off.
TFNI
(hesistant)
But he could have returned to help us:-- We haven't had trouble here with the native inhabitants;-- and no run-ins with spacer-types.
MIKE
He was bent on finding a beach. And we, were being extremely, cautious, TfNi,- to avoid any possibility.
TFNI
But do you suppose … Could they have … Was he captured?
MIKE
No indication, TfNi: We had our own troubles with them,- but we found them highly fragmentatious and in need of cohesive leadership.
TFNI
You've met them…?!
MIKE
Yes, and joined communities in this solar system out beyond the Pluton watering-hole: They are compliant with reason, to the extent of their trust in their better sciences.
TFNI
Why did they hit us when we came? Were they at war?
MIKE
Not really…. They suffer a general autism: a fast-planetary mind-set … much as Adam did … We learned that, gradually:- he wasn't suited for spacer-living: Earth is really the best choice for … him….
(pauses)
TFNI
Eve, is adaptable to any mental regime…. I do wish we had more interbreeding for them, but they'll survive: They're children: This planet is their home and school.
MIKE
You can visit them anytime you wish.
TFNI
(eyes sparkle)
I shall…. And we will scour, the wilderness, for Mr. Gabriel….
MIKE
… Speaking as much,-- We recovered Tefen…. He's well, a bit neutral, dry-air-headed, calm-eye-centered, quieter, these days … We nicknamed him, Shiuwe … He's taken the land of the abyss between here and Ptah and Ra's river out-west: They're all busy gold-digging these days.
TFNI
(kisses his cheek)
Thank you: I'm glad he's alive….
(reflects)
Shiuwe … Shiova … Sounds good … Gold?
MIKE
Yeah, Gold, --more than silver:-- They've got plans for building a great civilization of mankind….
(brightens)
Would you like to resume your duty, presently?- Lieutenant Commander.
TFNI
(nods, stands back erect)
Yes, Sir!
She eyes down his shirt-front … and grimaces:--
He self-inspects the mud-smear,-- and flicks it …
TFNI
Oh,-- Mister Michael!- You've never seen dirt…!
(takes his hand, gleeful)
Come! I'll show you how we clean in water, on a habitable planet.
She pulls-leads him down to the waters' edge …
And releasing his hand, runs-dives-in and under….
She comes back up clean, hair swept-back …
And wades to the water's edge …
Scoops a double-handful of water …
And he washes his shirt mud-smear: both giggling happy …
TFNI
Did you see the supernova in the north six years ago?
MIKE
It's 3 light-years away:- Blueshift says a thousand years till its dust wave arrives and seeds global rains and mutation-plagues…. Adam's sons should be alright till then:- Local species have survived these …
(confides, draws on sky)
Should be dramatic when it arrives: Dawn a horizon across the night sky and change the solar photospectrum; raise several feet of moisture from the oceans and deluge for a month…!
(a brave smile; resumes)
We've parametrized ten nearby dwarf stars for novae over six millennia: Closest is a cloaked-dwarf that'll blowout last: We might leave before its nasty radio-nickel'ide arrives.
Mike's COMMUNICATOR TWINKLES-IN:--
[COMM]
(advisory)
Sir, We're finishing loading…. And, Sir: This region is still unstable: Leisure-time has been canceled:- Geosciences-scan estimates local subground activity within the hour.
MIKE
(into voice-link)
We're coming:
(looks to TfNi's eyes)
Presently.
TFNI
(nods Yes)
Directly.
[COMM]
Yes, Sir: Very well; End-out….

EXT. - CLEARED NIGHT, FULL MOON, VENUS (CONTINUOUS)
And stand at the entrance, looking out;
What was Adam himself…?
Why had he been placed on Earth…?
What would he become now…?
What was this world…?
What was the world before…?
What was the void between the worlds…?
(02:49 voice)
And roll a fitted stone to cover the cave forever;
What Mind lay beyond the stars…?
What Spirit had attended him on Earth…?
What was his Principle… of reality…?
Of harmony…? Of Life…? Of Soul…? Of Truth…?
Questions mounting ever more expansive, towering ever higher: A tenuous substance filling thought, overcoming the gravity of opinion…
(03:13)
And turn away to look over the steppe;
As dully satisfying as the pale red light of that typical first day that first illumined the face of the Earth…
Or that milky smear of luminescence on the night sky… Somewhere out there had been a beginning he never knew…
Adam had passed, -yearning skyward flight again:- that eluded his brain-full of childish knowledge…
(03:35)
They walk away together.
Knowledge that seemed convincing-- yet was empty save an occasional companion conversation…
At last Adam was becoming a quickening spirit…
A God-thinker… A God worshipper…
(03:44 fade -3 sec. out-)
It would be two centuries more, 'til Noah noticed the water gushing-up from the ground in a deluge, as-if the fountains of the great deep had broken…
Evidence that something astronomical had crashed, once upon a time, Cracking the Earth underneath….
FLOATING, RISE: with the sky;
Text SCROLLS-UP-OFF.
(00:00 windwhistle - […]/[…])
RAIN POOLS REFLECT a myriad stars;
And hundreds of sorrowful stand heads-bowed …
(00:05 piano)
GRADUALLY LOOK UP … and UP … ENDLESSLY …
A FIREBALL wanders across the clear starry night-sky …
(00:50 talk, rhythm)
